Save Darfur - the power of unity

Hello Friends,

This past weekend we had the privilege of being a part of an amazing event. We played a Save Darfur rally in Greensboro, NC. This event was put on by local high school students who have the desire to take a stand in the world and speak out against injustice; particularly injustice that is occurring right now in the Sudan. "DARFUR is a region in western Sudan whose people have been targeted for extermination by the Sudanese government. Militias known as the Janjaweed, armed by the government, have systematically raped, murdered, and starved the people of numerous villages in Darfur. Over 400,000 people have been killed, and an additional 2 million have been displaced from their homes. The UN has declared that the genocide is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today." These facts were the reason for the rally and right before we played we heard Al Banan, a local Sudanese man who witnessed the injustices, speak and then we took the stage. Needless to say, we were overcome by the gravity of what we had heard and seen through Al Banan.

That night in Greensboro we saw hope and we felt the power of unity in the face of extreme darkness. The entire group was gathered with the same cause in mind: take a stand against a horrible tragedy that is occurring TODAY. We saw people pulling together and publicly declaring that they would not stand idly by. Now is the time to stand up and fight. We can make a change. We witnessed in the faces of those people in Greensboro the burning fire and passion for fellowman that has driven and inspired all of those who have struggled and fought against injustice in times past. Thank you all for reminding us again of what truly matters.

Truly inspired,

Scott, Justin, Ken, and Daniel

MJ would be proud

This is what happened in the office today. This sort of thing usually happens while we are in The Sergeant driving to a show.

The comfortable black hole of the office (meaning that it sucks out any moderate temperatures)

Hello Friends,

Ken and I have been in the office all day today and our brains are a tiny bit fried. I'd like to fill you in on an amazing phenomenon that may only occur at one place in the whole world! No matter what the temperature is outside, the office has an amazing ability to remain either too cold or too hot. Basically, when we got to the office this morning it was really nice outside, but really cold in the office. We sort of sighed to ourselves hoping that as it got warmer outside the office would reach a reasonable temperature. Man, were we wrong! Here's what actually happened broken down into the hours of the day:

9:30-11:30--too cold
11:30-11:45--almost comfortable but still a bit cold
11:46-5:51(which is right now)--jumped from too cold, to smoldering hot

If you have any insight into this weather pattern or have had a similar experience please let us know and help us fix it.

Extremely,

Daniel and Ken

PS-if you are thinking that we should have just turned on the AC or the Heater depending on the temp, I would tend to agree, except that these devices are part of the problem too. The AC makes it immediately too cold and the heater sends out burning air right into your lungs. Strange huh?

PS 2-pictured is ken experiencing the upper extreme and daniel encountering the lower

The Beatles and the Dead Sea

Hello Friends,

I was recently traveling in Israel and I had the privilege of taking a dip in the saltiest sea in the world: the Dead Sea. This sea is 33% salt. Let me put that in perspective for you, the Atlantic ocean is around 3-4% salt...needless to say, I floated with amazing buoyancy. In fact, I laid on my stomach with all four limbs up out of the water!! One of the weirdest experiences ever!! I just wanted to share with you a short video involving that crazy sea and the fabulous four rockers of great renown, The Beatles!!! Yes, even in Israel, when sitting near the Dead Sea in the evening, rock and roll finds me...
Sincerely,
Daniel
